The company name is inspired by the musette feed bags that are distributed by crewmembers to Tour de France racers. The musette takes on a distinct shape that is similar to a messenger bag with one long, crossbody strap. Some have a fold, others have a snap closure and they are made to be easily accessible for racers to fuel their bodies with hydration, electrolytes, sugar, and protien, while continuously pedaling their bicycle over long periods of time. It is a French word meaning “haversack.”

Other than a form of ID and perhaps your smartphone to stay in contact, bring whatever else you need to enjoy your time riding around Atlanta.
-
We currently do not have electric bikes. But never say never - the future is electric and we hope to add some pedal power to our fleet soon.

In Georgia, the bicycle helmet law focuses on ensuring the safety of young riders. If you're under 16 years old, it's super important to wear an ANSI compliant helmet while biking. For those over age 16, helmets are provided and strongly advised to be worn. It is the responsibility of the individual rider to assume the risks and dangers associated with renting and riding a bicycle from Musette.
-
That's a fantastic question! At Musette, we prioritize your safety, and that's why we offer helmets with MIPS certification. MIPS stands for Multi-directional Impact Protection System, which is an innovative technology designed to provide additional protection to your head in the event of an angled impact. It works by allowing the helmet to slide slightly on your head, reducing rotational forces that can occur during certain types of impacts. So, when you wear the provided MIPS-certified helmets from Cannondale, you can have extra peace of mind knowing that we ensure your safety while you enjoy your ride.

Absolutely! We require you to keep your rented bicycle safe and secure when you're not out exploring. Fortunately, we have some great recommendations for parking and storage options. Each rental includes it’s own heavy-duty, secure U-lock but there is a technique to it! Here is the most secure way to lock your bicycle up with a u-lock and combined with a cable. Many of our designated Musette Rendezvous points have bike racks where you can safely lock up your bicycle while you’re exploring. For all overnight reservations, we highly recommend taking the extra measures to secure the bicycle indoors, like a garage or entryway. Additionally, if you're staying at a hotel or Airbnb, they may have dedicated bike storage facilities or provide guidance on where to securely park your rented bicycle. Our friendly staff is always ready to assist you with specific recommendations based on your location and rental duration.
-
There is no age restrictions. We only require that the name on the reservation matches the name on the credit card or we assume the one named is given authorization by the credit card holder.
-
We offer 3 styles of bicycles from Cannondale, all of high-quality builds and expert maintenance.
The Adventure is the modern, cooler version on the classic beach cruiser, without the compromise of comfort, style and ease.
The Treadwell is the grown-up version of the BMX bike but a lot more comfortable and nimble to ride.
The Treadwell Remixte rides the same, offering a lowered top bar for even greater ease for getting on and off.
-
Each and every bike is inspected, cleaned and sanitized after every rental period, from the handlebars down to the seat and pedals.
-
When riding our rented bicycles, it's important to remember that you are responsible for adhering to the usual rules and regulations of riding bicycles on public streets. While there may not be any specific rules exclusive to our rental service, we highly encourage you to follow general traffic laws, such as stopping at red lights, yielding to pedestrians, and using appropriate hand signals for turning. It's essential to prioritize your safety and the safety of others around you. Additionally, we recommend wearing a helmet and using bike lights, especially during low-light conditions, to enhance visibility. By being a responsible and courteous cyclist, you can have a safe and enjoyable riding experience in our beautiful city. Should you have any questions or need clarification on specific local ordinances, our friendly staff will be more than happy to provide guidance. Happy cycling and remember to ride responsibly!

We do not currently have kids bikes but that will change in the very near future.

Yes to both. Upon picking up your bicycle, we will verify the authorization to hold a security deposit amount of $100 per bicycle on your credit card. Rest assured that once you return the bike and any rented gear in the same condition it was rented out, minus the expected wear and tear, the security deposit will be fully refunded. For verification purposes, we kindly request a valid form of ID that matches the name on the reservation to be presented in person. Please note that we will record this information for liability reasons. We value your trust and transparency, and these measures ensure a smooth and secure rental process for all our customers.
-
Yes. Within our Add-On section, you'll discover the option to include a $10 damage waiver for extra peace of mind. This invaluable insurance policy provides additional protection against unforeseen damage or loss of the bike and accompanying gear. By opting for the damage waiver, you can confidently ride knowing that you're covered in case of any unexpected incidents. Your adventure is important to us, and we want to ensure you have the best experience possible while keeping your worries at bay.
-
At Musette, we understand that accidents can happen. If the rented bicycle gets damaged during your rental period, please notify us at the return. The extent of the damage will be assessed, and any necessary repairs or replacements will be assessed promptly. In such cases, the cost of repairs or replacement parts at retail price may be deducted from the security deposit or covered by the damage waiver if it was included in your rental.
In the unfortunate event of theft, we strongly recommend contacting the local authorities to file a police report. Please inform us as soon as possible so we can enact a recovery protocol. Customer is to be responsible for reimbursing Musette for the original retail price of stolen items.
It's important to note that all rented bicycles are subject to the terms and conditions outlined in our rental agreement. We encourage you to review this document thoroughly for a comprehensive understanding of your rights and responsibilities in case of damage or theft.
We strive to ensure that you have a positive experience, and we're here to support you throughout your rental period.
